Dr. Gail Weingast certainly was not always a doctor. She is incredibly experienced when it comes to the medical field today, but this has certainly not always been the case. Much earlier in her life, she was just an undergraduate student attending school at Jackson College, which is part of Tufts University, based in Medford, Massachusetts. Dr. Gail Weingast was then just Gail—and she'd gone to college in 1969 and decided to major in Spanish. Obviously, this is not the typical major for a person who is looking to become a medical doctor. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and although it is not the conventional first degree for an M.D., she has never regretted it.
After finishing her time as an undergraduate, Dr. Gail Weingast enrolled in Boston University's School of Medicine in order to pursue her medical degree. She would receive her M.D. from that institution in 1976 and commit herself to working in the field of pediatrics immediately thereafter. Dr. Gail Weingast began working at the Colorado General Hospital in Denver in 1977, throwing herself into her work. Her residency was also performed at the Colorado General Hospital, from 1980 until 1983. This three year residency was performed in radiology, which became an important field in her later career. Dr. Gail Weingast later performed a fellowship as well, working in the field of Ultrasound. This was also performed at the Colorado General Hospital. Today, Dr. Gail Weingast works at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. She is the Chief of Ultrasound and Chief of Breast Imaging at that hospital, one of the largest in the area. |
